The Pistol Training is one of the most popular courses offered here at Scrivner Shooting School. When handling any weapon, safety is the primary concern; so once you graduate from the safety class, we can begin the course. This school specializes in working with all levels of shooters so it is not a problem to teach from the basics of what the sights are supposed to look like with a position that works best for you. The pistol is one of the most difficult weapons to master because of the short distance between the front and rear sight points, but with our training program; you will be on target before you know it. Scrivner Shooting School will even guide you in the process of choosing your weapon based on your shooting needs. At the same time; we will be ensuring you consider the safety of your loved ones, and ensuring the weapon has a safe within your home. If you are new to pistol shooting most of the training we will do, will be dry fire drills without ammunition to ensure you can safely handle the pistol BEFORE going to a range and using ammunition. This is to ensure you are completely safe and capable of handling your weapon without endangering yourself or those around you. Then you are ready to go to the range and feel your first recoil. There is no one type of training fits all program when it comes to training marksmanship. Everyone is different so private training sessions are 100% tailored to the student’s individual needs! This is an excellent program for first time shooters who have never touched a firearm, or experienced shooters who desire training on specific skill sets such as competitive shooting.
Rifle is the most common course offered here at Scrivner Shooting School but when handling any weapon, safety is the primary concern; so once you graduate from the safety class, you can begin the course. The reason rifle is the most common is because the restrictions to acquire a rifle except that it cannot be a fully automatic rifle and a few others. Most rifles are designed for hunting and can be bought and taken home the same day from local sporting goods stores. However, at Scrivner Shooting School; the safe storage of all weapons is also trained to all our graduates. The actual training begins with the basics of marksmanship because we want you to be proficient at firing your rifle not just loud. The style of shooting is what determines how far the course goes on for. If you are just looking to hunt for small game; then it will not be a very involved course. But if you are aspiring to be a national champion, Olympian, or 1000-yard competitor at the annual Camp Perry National Championships the amount of time you dedicate to your skill will certainly be a factor for your success. Our first step is to get you trained well enough to be able to continue live fire training on your own. After that we can even analyze your shooting via a movie you take of yourself shooting to see what you need to work on to enhance your accuracy. Private Training sessions are 100% tailored to the student’s individual needs! This is an excellent program for first time shooters who have never touched a firearm, or experienced shooters who desire training on specific skill sets such as competitive shooting.
Sometimes your preferred training area or range is closed for maintenance. In those instances we can give you training sessions that can be conducted by yourself within your very own home, or conducted online as we oversee your dryfire routines with the aid of modern day technology. Dry fire is actually what the renowned Seals do on a daily basis to stay sharp on their trigger control and familiar with their weapon as they wait for their next assignment. Dry fire is boring and may seem like a waste of time but to be honest; the most senior Olympic athletes will all tell you that they would not be where they are today without dry firing. Scrivner Shooting School helps you create the most real-life environment imaginable all with the aid of today's equipment. I know what you are thinking; now you have to get someone to help you set all the computer stuff up. Not to worry; I have not only been shooting/coaching for over 40 years, I have been in the computer field since the late 1990's as well. I can assist you with whatever you need to get set up for teleconferencing training sessions. It's what I do because like you; I hate to lose. All the time at home can still be put to good use as long as you still have internet. These Technical Training sessions are 100% tailored to the student’s individual needs! This is an excellent program for first time shooters who have never touched a firearm, or experienced shooters who desire training on specific skill sets and ideal for competitive shooters.
The Global Assistance is what our graduates use the most. It takes a little time for you to set up for practice but once you get the recording, you have a visual record to review later if an old problem reoccurs. Send me the video of your training session and I will review the video, edit in comments and even slow down instances that i find where you need to improve. Just the other day I saw one of my online students that was shooting with his weak eye. This was done from 5 miles away with the aid of computer technology. If we were recording, I could have played it back for him so he could see how uncomfortable he really was. If you have trouble with technology, I can assist with getting your training studio set up and get you started. But what's neat about this; is I can do this from anywhere in the world! Of course, there will be a slight price difference if I have to work late at night with the time zone challenges but I can watch you live from your own range if they will allow you to use your studio equipment, (iPhone/iPad w/tripod). For us to do real-time training from across the world will require your training area to have internet or you must have a portable hotspot, etc. This is an endless "rabbit hole" of ideas to use in this program and I know we can find what you need to be successful in this training package.
Safety is the most important class offered here at Scrivner Shooting School. This is the pre-requisite for any of our other courses for a very good reason. In order to keep you and the surrounding public safe; this course is taught to all our customers. Sorry, but until you are able to pass this course, we cannot teach you the next level of lessons. We are not just about money; we care too much about your safety and your family's safety to let you slide by on safe weapons handling. We know that our students would not want a devastating incident to occur by their incompetence so we make sure you are naturally safe before moving on to any other lessons. We will not 'fail' a student but we will continue to work on the weakness to overcome the safety class milestone.
It has been an American Tradition for many years to pass the knowledge of Marksmanship on to the next generation. It is the only way the art has survived this long, and our honor to pass it on the next generation. Many families have never heard that kids can receive a college scholarship just by shooting alone! We are always hearing of the college scholarships going to the common sports but never to the shooting sport. So, if you are not successful at baseball, football, basketball, or any other sport that involves a high degree of athleticism; you can still pursue Olympic dreams with a sport where you are required to stand still. I’ve seen truly awesome friendships develop among the kids in the youth programs that last for many years. The youth members are truly easier to train because they don’t have any bad habits to break. But as with all the other programs, these sessions also are 100% tailored to the student’s individual needs. This is an excellent program for first time shooters who have never touched a firearm.
